What is a bioethanol fireplace and how does it work?
April 29, 2023As the name suggests, a bioethanol fireplace is an alternative source of real flame heat that runs on bioethanol fuel, as opposed to gas or logs. Bioethanol fuel is a natural, ethanol-based fuel produced from plants such as sugar cane or corn, and is therefore a much greener alternative to traditional fuels.

The bioethanol fireplace works by simply pouring bioethanol fuel into the burner and lighting it, so it is much simpler than you might initially think. The fuel will then burn for 4-5 hours or until it goes out, which is done by closing the lid and starving the flame of oxygen. The fire can then be easily topped up with more fuel once it has cooled (which takes 10-15 minutes) if you need the fire to burn longer.

The amount of oxygen you give to the fire dictates how long it burns. With the lid completely closed, the fire will burn faster, while providing minimal oxygen to the fire will keep it burning longer.
